The Copernicus Urban Atlas is a high-resolution land use and land cover mapping product developed as part of the European Union's Earth observation program. It provides detailed geospatial data for Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) across Europe with populations exceeding 50,000 inhabitants. The Urban Atlas employs a standardized classification system comprising 17 urban classes and 10 rural classes, with a Minimum Mapping Unit (MMU) of 0.25 hectares for urban areas and 1 hectare for rural areas. As of 2018, the dataset covers 788 FUAs across EEA38 countries and the United Kingdom. Data is hosted by the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) and more information is available at:
